The most talked about palette of 2019, or perhaps ever, is now out and I managed to get my hands on it despite Beauty Bay’s site issues and the collection selling out fast. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, where have you been?! I’m of course talking about the Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star Conspiracy Palette, which merges Shane’s YoutTube career and Jeffree Star’s makeup expertise together.
Watching the duo embarking on the creation over on YouTube, from swatching samples to the palette case rejections, it was a fantastic glimpse into the workings of the makeup industry. -At the same time being a fantastic marketing tool, as I haven’t been too excited about makeup collections until this palette started circulating.
From a palette to merch, and to a full blown collection the duo really took the beauty world by storm, with other YouTube releases like James Charles’ mini Artistry palette release and Tati’s brand launch receiving minimal attention.
I didn’t get the whole collection, as some of it’s really not my thing, and it would just get one outing if that, so I stuck with products I knew I’d get my money’s worth form.
The Conspiracy Palette
The palette has a mix of wearable and unique shades which I thought would be perfect for Christmas parties coming up. I know we’re only in November, but a girl can think ahead!
I went in trying this palette pretty blank, as I’ve not tried any previous shadows from the brand. I am so impressed with the quality and in particular the metals which are creamy, smooth and oh so pigmented.
The palette also has a feel like no other palette I’ve tried, the imprinted designs are a nice touch and the trinket style box makes you feel you have a real treasure in your hands. I love this product and will definitely be adding other palettes from Jeffree Star Cosmetics on to my Christmas list.
I’m obsessed with this clear lipgloss, it makes the lips so full and glossy. The non-sticky formula looks fantastic worn over bare lips. The root bear scent is quite full on, but I really like it; which is a surprise as I’ve trashed scented glosses in the past as they’ve made feel sick. You know I like it, cause I’ve been applying it all day at work.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics’ famous velour liquid lipstick formula makes an appearance in this collection, with the same new root beer scent as the lipgloss. I picked up two shades, ‘Are you filming?’ (red) & ‘Jeffree, what the fuck?’ (pink). I’m yet to give these lippies a wear test, but already being a fan of the long lasting formula I’m excited to give these a whirl.
